I'm more than half an hour trying to write something on the bottom of a page,
and Word wont let me do it. It should't be so automatic, I'm not stupid, I
know how to make a nice lay-out.

Most people think Word is way too much automatic.

The simplest way to put something at the bottom of a page is to press the
Enter key until you get there and then type. There are better ways but have
you tried this one?

Clearly you don't!

Could you give a bit more information about what you want to do - do you
want something at the bottom of one page, or every page? And what does Word
automatically do when you do what? And what version of Word are you using?

If you're trying to create a footer, see
http://sbarnhill.mvps.org/WordFAQs/HeaderFooter.htm. If you're trying to
create a block of text that will stay at the bottom of a given page, insert
a text box anchored to the first paragraph on the page and set its location
to "Bottom Relative to Margin." If you just want to type in any given
location, enable "Click and type" (Tools | Options | Edit), though what this
does behind the scenes is insert a bunch of empty paragraphs, tabs, and
spaces (shudder!).
