Automatic Updates

I'm using windows XP (sp2) and unable to turn on automatic updates
I receive a msg Error number: 0x80070422 when i try to update online.

Can some help me on this?

tried all this stuff but still updates are not working.

can this be due to some trojan, virus or malware
