Automatic Updates service unavailable

I support an office running a Windows 2000 server and
several Windows 2000 desktops. I have followed the steps
outlined in the articles listed below. This includes
running gpedit.msc on the server and creating an
administrative template that allows Automatic Updates. If
I log in as an admin on the client PCs I can run Windows
Update but this isn't what I need in the long run.
If I log in as an user I get an Admin error message
stating that I need to be logged in as an Admin. I still
get a "Windows Update Service is unavailable" error when I
try to setup Automatic Updates, this is the real issue.
The Automatic Updates error I get no matter who I'm logged
in as. Please help!

How to configure automatic updates by using Group Policy
or registry settings

I think the solution you're looking for is Software Updates Server (SUS
2.0). You can find more information about it at www.susserver.com

Pretty neat solution--approve updates to roll out to your network, configged
by group policy, and you can update all your computers without having each
of them duplicate update downloading.

SUS is installes in Windows 2000 servers past SP2. I'll five it a try.
Thanks.

SUS is installed in Windows 2000 servers that are up to SP2. I'll give it a
try.
