Automatic Updater is on the fritz.

My automatic updater keeps installing the same thing over and over and over
again. And because of the SP2, if I DO let it install, it keeps bugging me
to restart my computer over and over and over again. And if I DON'T let it
install, it keeps bugging me over and over and over again.

Why is WINDOWS trying to install an update for my RADEON 9800 Pro Drive
anyway?

Why was this guys post pulled for MS's Server?

James,

1.) Stay away from downloading device drivers from windows update.
Get all driver updates either from your computer builder or from the
device manufacturer.

2.) Try downloading SP2 to your harddrive and installing it from
there, instead of through windows update.

Here is the direct URL to download SP2:

http://download.microsoft.com/downl...0-73cf11fdcdf8/WindowsXP-KB835935-SP2-ENU.exe

If the link does wrap right, you may have to copy and paste both lines
into the address bar of your browser.

Good Luck!

Here's a link to the orginal post, if anybody wants to give any other
and/or more advice:

Don't get driver updates from windows update. Go to the device
manufacturer's web site for those.

For repeated windows updates see if anything here helps:

I see it on the server.

On MS's server or on your ISP's nntp server. Because I saw it disapear
from MS's. I got the header info, but then when I tried to open the
message, I got a message saying it was unavailable from the server. And
when I got new posts even the header info disapeared.

I use the MS server.

Then they must have either reloaded it on to the server after my
complaint, or the OP reposted. I had to go to Google to make my
original reply to the OP.

I don't know if anyone else has seen it, since no one else has responded.

It was probably a server syncing glitch. I got a few unavailable messages
over the last 12 hours, and they were not messages that would be subject to
being pulled.

Yeah, I saw this one and it was a pretty straight foward help question,
and didn't think there was anything wrong with it.
