Is it possible to have a computer running Windows XP Pro to turn its self on
and off at a given time each day

Hello Mark,

Your computer BIOS might support turning on your computer at a specific time of the day. Please
consult the documentation that came with your motherboard/computer.

To turn off your computer, you can schedule the shutdown.exe command as a task. More info on
shutdown.exe here:

The article also applies for Windows XP and local machines.

You could probably run a simple batch file with the shutdown command to shut
down your computer at a certain time (using Scheduled Tasks). For booting up
automatically, you will need to look into your motherboard documents to see
if that feature is supported.
