When I shutdown my PC going through Start - Shutdown it
takes a while and then prompts me that its OK to shut off
my PC. Is there a command or some where in the control
panel where I can get the machine to shutdown
automatically. I am in windows 2000.

This is likely a function of your computer system BIOS. If you can go into your computer BIOS settings (each BIOS is different) you can most likely find out if there is an autoshutdown setting. If your computer is old (like older than the Pentium II generation) it is possible that your computer BIOS does not support automatic shutdown.

If you had it before with 98se or something-
Go to the manf. of the MoBo and get the drivers for W2K
You must have upgraded, or else you would be homeostatic.
After you update the driver, go into the BIOS and set your ACPI
to automatic.
