automatic restart when shutting down XP

My Compaq Presario 6029us turns itself back on when I turn
off the computer with the shut down button. I have tried
to remove programs with known incompatibility (Roxio Easy
CD Creator) with windowes XP(home edition), and I have
turned off the "automatic restart upon system failure"
under advanced system settings. I have also checked that I
don't have a trojan horse virus (could have started my pc
remotely through my internet cable connection). Has anyone
had the same problem and figured out how to solve it?

Hi Rolf,

You about covered them all. :o) Other than: Disable everything that reads
'Wake up' in the BIOS settings. Also, I have seen this behavior if you have
a CD/DVD in the drive during a shutdown. Good luck!

Compaq Presario 6000xx seres have PME WakeUp Events [exact wordings] in BIOS. Turn this feature OFF.
