i am using msword 2003 doc., it contains 10 pages, only one heading
i.e.,(Commissioning of the Present System) now i wanted to change the heading
name without opening a document. (i mean i wanted to modify only at outside
the doc.,(rename) automatically the name should change inside.

is there any process for this ?

regards,

Naveen

Hi Naveen,

If you mean that you want the filename to appear in the heading, then yes. A FILENAME field will do that - see under Insert|Field.
Note that the filename inserted by the FILENAME field will include the file extension. You can also include the path if you want.

Cheers

Hi Naveen,

Surely you don't expect me to tell you how to scroll in the Insert|Field dialogue box?
If that's too hard, then in the document itself;
.. press Ctrl-F9 to create a field,
.. type FILENAME between the braces, thus {FILENAME} and
.. press F9 to update.

If you want the path to show, use {FILENAME \p}.

Cheers
