automatic program switches

When I hit the send button on an e-mail I am automatically switched to
whatever program I was last using. I have Vista and use Windows Mail. This
just started recently, although I got Vista several months ago. I have
restored all default settings and rebooted, but that didn't help. It's
driving me nuts. Can anyone help?

Which antivirus are you using?

I use CA AntiVirus, which I've used for years. The current version was
designed for Vista.

CA Antivirus is good (I use it myself), but go into its advanced settings
and turn off the email protection.

If this does not fix the problem, the only other suggestion I have is to
upgrade to the less buggy Windows Live Mail:

I tried turning off the email protection, but it didn't work. Am I the only
one who ever has had this problem?

i am interested in transferring my e-mail to my cell phone. is this
possible or not. also, maybe even one certain sender, would even be great.

By "it didn't work" are you referring to inability to turn off
email protection in CA Antivirus?
Or, you were able to turn off the email protection, but it did not
resolve your email problem?

If the latter, my second suggestion still holds.
