Automatic name recognition problems in to/cc/bcc fields

A

Aaron Shumaker

When I type in a recipient's address in the to, cc or bcc
fields, outlook remembers certain names that were entered
in the past? How can I clear the names that are somehow
saved in memory? I have some names that are listed with
invalid email addresses, that gets picked up.

Can someone help!!

State your Outlook version and whether you are referring to autocompletion
(before you Tab out of the To: field) or autoresolution (after you tab out
of the To: field).

Pull up the list of names. Using your arrow keys select the name to be deleted and then press Delete on the keyboard.

Outlook XP, i am referring to autocompletion and
autoresolution i guess. when i start to type in an email
address or someone's name, there are old names that
appear that i want to delete. just want to know
where/how i can delete them.

That's autocompletion, not autoresolution.
Remove individual addresses from the autocompletion cache by highlighting
the entry when presented in the suggested names list (use your arrow key to
migrate to the entry) and then hitting your Delete key before you tab out of
the field. To clear the entire cache, follow the instructions here:

Just start typing the name. For some names I have a list, like John Doe, then John Smith beneath it.

In short, start typing, use the arrow key to get to the
name, and press delete...
