If you mean does it use heuristics in addition to static definitions, I
don't know the answer. Best way to find out would be to go through all the
material published by and about Giant's product.
The definition file can be updated in at least three ways:
1) manually---file, check for updates (updates both definitions and program
code.)
2) Autoupdate--separate module in start menu.
3) For the moment anyway, the binary at the download site is being updated
as definitions are updated--there is a paragraph on the download page giving
the number of the definitions in that download, so you can tell if it has
been updated. This can be useful as something to keep current when
composing media to take with you on a visit to a machine with no Internet
connection or a slow one.
