Autofit of row height

I notice that the Auotfit of row height does not work from time to time.
Can someone advise me how to resume this feature.

If the "time to time" involves merged cells that is a limitation of the
feature. It ignores them. Other than that, and obvious stuff like
protected sheets, you'll have to be more specific.

If the row has been manually set to a height, you will have to reset under
Rows>Autofit.

Or you have merged cells as Jim suggests.
