That was my initial thought also but it was not
protected. What I had done was save the results of a
Agent Ransack directory search as a text file. I
converted that text file to an Excel file. I also
exported a table from Access into Excel. The "Agent
Ransack" and "Access" Excel spreadsheets had the
AutoFilter capability. However, when I copied the single
columns in both of those spreadsheets and pasted them
into columns A & B of a new spreadsheet, the AutoFilter
capability was grayed out. So, I decided to heck with it
and went about completing my task in a different manner.
At this point I have chalked up the graying of the
AutoFilter to "one of those odd, unexplainable things."
Hadn't selected more than one sheet had you ? I just tried
autofiltering 5 sheets ... and it was greyed out. There were other
options I hadn't seen before (don't recall if advanced filter was
greyed out or not).

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to
think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone´s fault.
If it was Us, what did that make Me ? After all, I´m one of Us. I must be.
I´ve certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No-one ever thinks
of themselves as one of Them. We´re always one of Us. It´s Them that do
the bad things. <=> Terry Pratchett. Jingo.
