Autoconfigured IP

Hi Group,

We have a small network of 4 XP workstations connected to a DSL connection
trough a Linksys router with DHCP enabled . Setup worked fine for a couple
of days, internet access worked fine, file and printer sharking worked fine
too. Saturday one of the workstations started having problems, no internet
access, couldn't access printer shared from other workstation. Today another
workstation has the same problems. From what I checked, the only odd thing
is when I run 'ipconfig' from the command prompt. what I see different is
under the IP address it mentions 'autoconfigured' and gives an IP diffrente
from what the router assaigns by default. Any idea what could be causing
this?

Thanks,
Marcos

XP will assign an autoconfigured IP address if it is unable to get an
IP address from a DHCP server. Verify that the Linksys is still
dishing out IP's. A restart of the router will solve this issue. You
will also need to reboot the workstations or run ipconfig /release then
ipconfig /renew

Good Luck

Bryce
