There are three separate "auto" things to consider, and two of them are
still available:
- AutoCorrect is what I suspect you're thinking about -- you type something,
and Word automatically changes it to something else. This still exists. The
only difference is how you get to the dialog that manages the items. Instead
of Tools > AutoCorrect Options, you click the Office button, select Word
Options, click the Proofing tab, and click the AutoCorrect Options button
there.
- AutoText is similar to AutoCorrect, except that it doesn't do the
replacement after you type the entry until you press F3 to trigger it. To
make an AutoText entry, select the replacement and press Alt+F3. This
feature is also still present, although changed to be only one category of
Building Blocks.
- AutoComplete was the feature that, after you had typed enough of an
AutoText entry to be recognized, would pop up a little yellow box showing
the full name and allowing you to press Enter to replace the typed text with
the entry. This is the only part that has been removed. We have hopes that
it'll return some day.
