autocomplete for the system date in word 2007 does not work

In Word 2007 autocomplete works for the months and the days of the week, but
not for the system date. I have followed the instructions to press the Enter
key after you see the month, and then hit the spacebar to display the system
date. The system (current date) never displays. How can I get this fixed?
Thank you. Doris

Try the following, which I admit is inexplicable, even bizarre:

Type the 1st four letters of the current month
When the AutoComplete Tip appears, hit ENTER
Press SPACE
Press DELETE (I have no idea why)
Press SPACE again
When the AutoComplete Tip appears, press ENTER

I believe you'll need to adjust this approach when the current month is
March, April, May, June or July -- just type the entire name of the month,
press SPACE, press DELETE, press SPACE and press ENTER

If ever the AutoComplete Tip doesn't appear, run the following macro:

Application.DisplayAutoCompleteTips = True

I have Word 2007 on two computers. I get different results on the
two; so far as I know all the settings and options are the same. (I set
up both computers and no one else uses them.)

On one, I can type 'octo' and it shows 'press Enter' for October. I
do that and enter a space and it shows in a balloon 'press Enter' for
October 9, 2007. I press Enter and all works as stated.

On the second computer, I can type 'October', then a space, and I get
the balloon saying 'press Enter' for October 9, 2007, BUT if I press
Enter after 'octo' -- which enters October -- adding a space does NOT
give me the second AutoComplete. However, I can use the space -
"backspace" - space method described by others.

Really strange.

I thought so. If not it would make it even flakier than ever! :)

I haven't decided if they were attempting to tone down AutoComplete, so you
didn't get so many AutoComplete tips in right after another or an attempt to
fix another issue. In past versions (I forget which) it would work if you
capitalized the first letter of the month. If you didn't then AutoCorrect
would correct the capitalization which would trump the AutoComplete tip.
Whatever the case, it doesn't work like it used to.

Thank you for this tip. Is there any way to correct the "Backspace"
requirement for Autocomplete Date?

Thanks,
