Hi there,

i have several clients that are having an issue with Microsoft auto updates.
when they start thier computers the svchost.exe program uses 100% of the CPU
for 5 - 10 minutes, rendering the computer unusable. if i kill svchost.exe
and turn off the auto updates everything works fine, but i dont feel this is
a good solution. this
seems to be a know issue, but i havent found any good solutions. any ideas?

Why didn't you install this update.
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/916089/en-us

Even better, install its downloadable successor:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/927891/en-us

| Update replacement information
| This update replaces update 916089.

Try deleting the contents of this folder (or the folder itself) & reboot:

C:\WINDOWS\SoftwareDistribution\DataStore

If no joy, try deleting the contents of this folder (or the folder itself) &
reboot:

C:\WINDOWS\SoftwareDistribution
