how do i switch off auto update? apparently i need to do this to avoid
downloading an update that is not campatible with real tek audio. next
question: how do i utlilize ms auto update in future without downloading
these incompatible updates?
 
The update you are probably refering to has a hotfix to cure the problem.
In any case you should not be updating any drivers/hardware from MSUpdate
