Auto text as tracked change

The auto text entries used in Microsoft Word 2003 keep being inserted as a
tracked change even when track changes feature is turned off.

I start with a new document based upon the normal template, using auto text
entries that were defined under the previous version of Microsoft Office
2000, and when I use auto text entries, the auto text automatically shows up
as a tracked change, I then have to the accept the change in order to
complete the fill-in.

What would be causing this and how can I correct it?

It sounds like the AutoText entries were created using a document with
Track Changes enabled.

To correct the issue you will need to redefine the AutoText entries in
the template after you've accepted the changes.. Insert them in a
document, accept the changes, and then redefine them by selecting the
entry in the document and adding it again using the same name. Note
once you add it using the same name you should be prompted with a
message asking if you wish to "Redefine the AutoText entry".

assistance by email can not be acknowledged.
