Auto start up to perform a specific task

Hi.

I need to make an XP based PC boot itself up, perform a task, and then shut
itself down again, a sort of "wake on LAN" function but without having the
LAN call the PC to wake up.

Is this possible please? I know you can do it on a Mac but can find no
reference to any suitable "wakeup call" in the help system on XP or the KB.

Could one of the MVPs advise please?

Thanks

Elliott

Check your BIOS for auto start up. (Or words to that effect)

Even though my PC is about 5 years old, it has a function in the bios to set
a start up time.

May help.
