My Windows XP Pro will not shut down my system, (although win 98, Win ME and
Win 2K will shut it down automatically after I select "Turn Off Computer" in
the start menu).
I have a HDD selector switch which enabels me to boot up with either
Windows XP Pro, Win 2K Pro, Win ME or Win 98. All the OS work well, but
Windows XP will not shut down the PC bu itself; it will go through the normal
shut-down routine but then display a message that says "It is now safe to
turn off your computer" and I have to manually shut it down by pushing the
power switch.
On all the other OSs, it will shut down all the way without having to turn
it off manually at the power switch.
This occurred after a re-install of Win XP Pro. Along time back I stumbled
upon a way to enable the auto shut off, but I have been unable to find it
again (and searching "Help" or the Knowledge Base has been fruitless. Can
anyone tell me how to enable this auto shut down?
