Auto-Save

Can anyone help?

In Excel 2000 you could click on Tools and in the Add Ins list set your
worksheets to Auto-Save every 10 minutes or so. I can't seem to find this in
Excel 2007 has it been removed and is there any new way of Auto saving?

Version prior to Excel 2002 had a real AutoSave which overwrote the workbook
with a save at specified time intervals. Good or bad feature depending on
how you look at it.

Versions since 2000 use Auto Recovery which only creates a timed but
temporary backup file which is deleted when the workbook is closed normally.

Auto Recovery is a safety valve in the event of an Excel crash while a
workbook is open.

Jan Karel Pieterse has an addin called AutoSafe
which doen't alert before saving.

It doesn't overwrite the existing workbook when it saves. It saves to a
user selectable folder. And when it's done, it either deletes these backups
(or puts them in the recycle bin). And the user can always restore the
backups from the recycle bin.

If you still have access to the AutoSave add-in from Excel 2000 it may work
with 2007................it did work with 2002 and 2003

Another PC in my group still has 2000 how would I copy this to my PC?

How do i copy the autosave.xla then put it on my machine?

Use Windows button|search to look for autosave.xla

Then copy it to a thumbdrive, floppy disk, or even email it to the other pc.

Put it in your favorite folder and then use:
Tools|addins to browse for that autosave.xla addin.

Keep a backup copy somewhere safe--you may find it useful when you (or all of
you!) get new pc's--or software upgrades!

File>Copy to portable media like a floppy.

Insert media in new machine.

Copy to Office\Library folder
