Auto Preview Received TIFF Attachment?

R

Richard Morey

Hi,

I have just setup SBS 2003 in our office and am using the fax service to
route incoming faxes to one user. The user is running Outlook 2003 on XP Pro
SP2. The problem with our new system is that viewing the incoming faxes
requires either saving the TIFF to disk and then finding it and opening it
or right clicking on the message and selecting "view attachment." One
particular user is not very computer savy and is having problems with this
whole system and is therfore complaining to me about getting rid of the old
fashion fax machine. Is there any way I can set up this users computer to
auto preview the TIFF attachment when a new fax is recieved?

Thanks,

Rich

Attachments can't be viewed inline in a message in Outlook, so autopreview
doesn't make any sense in this context. Teach the user how to double-click
on the attachment to open it - then they can save it using file | save. This
person should be able to learn how to do that, especially if handling faxes
is part of his/her job. I don't know of any rule you can set up that will
open an attachment automatically.

You can't auto preview - but if you use the preview pane, doesn't it open if
you double click on it? Did the user set tiff's to always save to disk and
never ask again? (Windows Explorer, Tools, Options, file types)

Hi --

I will take a closer look and see what happens with the preview pane open.
Otherwise he'll just have to learn!

Thanks
