When I plug in USB flash drive or external hard disk, the system scans the
whole drive. Can someone advise how to stop it as it takes time without any
purpose.

I'm not sure what you mean by "the system scans the whole drive." Have you
turned off autoplay?

I haven't tried it, but does pressing and holding the SHIFT key (when you insert the flash drive) help?
