Auto numbers

The auto numbers of my tables begin with 1000 and i have reached 1500. Which
is the best way to to preserve the old auto numbers and begin the numbering
with 2000?

AutoNumbers are for internal indexing purposes and should be hidden from the
user. If you want custom record numbering you'd have to code it yourself
using something like DMax.

You can set autonumber field to any value using append query (insert into),
but better keep autonumber non-sense
