Auto Number generation

Wizards,
I am using Access 2002. I am experiencing an intermittent problem with the
primary key autonumber. Sometimes the autonumber will try and go backwards
several thousand records and of course crash with “duplicates in primary key
or indexed field†type message. I have to rebuild with a blank db and import
all the tables to get it straight. Has anyone else had this problem and know
of a solution or cause?

Be sure that you have the latest updates (SP3) for ACCESS 2002 and for Jet
(SP8).
