It may be bad form but I have been using the Auto Logon to XP HE SP2.
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/setup/learnmore/tips/knox2.mspx
I am auto logged on and always choose to be administrator.
I am the only one who has access to the computer, always used a
software firewall and use various malware shields so I've not been
very concerned about it.
I have introduced a router (Linksys EtherFast wired Cable/DSL Router
w/4-Port Switch #BEFSR41) and used just the blank username/password:
admin as suggested by the router's manual. I renabled the software
firewall too.
I'm planning on building a new main system (XP Pro SP2 OEM) and a 3rd
(MCE2005 [XP Pro SP2 OEM]) system and connect them to the router to
all share files, printer and my broadband DSL connection.
Again, I am the only one with access to the 3 computers.
Will I be able to use the Auto Logon for the other two systems or
should I change my habits?
I haven't found anything on this oddball/specific situation; if I need
to reverse the auto logon I have now, and how to safely do it.
Any help appreciated,
