Seems like it should just stop accepting new spam, which would seem like
a feature, not a bug.

I'm surprised they hassled you about it.
redial, yes it sometimes takes a few dials to wake their system up.
Anyways til another no long distance connection fires up I still need
to auto dump. Would hate to miss all the help I get here ! )
Right now, I have my email client deleting from the servers anything
that is between 140k and 160k (the size range I've seen for the swen
worm that's going around) and does not have any of certain keywords from
my email addresses in the To field. That happens on every scheduled
mail run on all my POP accounts, and - if I get impatient <g> - any that
I initiate manually.
Earthlink - my ISP - has a spamblocker, but it's not set up for swen.
It's pretty good on run-of-the-mill spam, and 1) stuff it puts in the
Bulk Mail folder doesn't count against my maibox size limit, and 2)
posts in that folder are automatically nuked at 30 days age. That's a
pretty good system, I think, from the user's standpoint. (Also, if
you find a nonspam in there, you can tell the system it's not spam, and
it won't shunt future similar mail to the bin; and, conversely, if some
spam sneaks through, you can submit it to Yahoo as spam, and they will,
to some degree, also tweak for that.
