auto-complete (addresses)

In Windows Mail, typing the first letter of an address invokes a
drop-down menu with all addresses that contain that letter. This
auto-complete list is created automatically as mail is sent. Many of
the addresses are not in the CONTACTS folder. _Where are they stored?_

In Windows LIVE Mail, there seems to be a different behavior. ONLY
addresses in the CONTACTS folder are dropped-down. Can someone confirm
this?

How can LIVE Mail be configured to perform as Windows Mail does, with
the addresses added automatically?

The Windows Mail auto-complete list is stored in the Registry.
It remembers a maximum of the last 29 recipients you've sent to.

WLM only displays matching recipients from Contacts.
To auto-add new contacts: Tools, Options, Send, select
"Automatically put people..."

Thanks for the confirmation, Gary.

As for Windows Mail, the registry was the first thing I thought of for a
list of saved addresses, but FIND does not locate them. Tried several
searches. Also did a text string search of the entire C: drive.
Nothing there either.

Take a look here:
