does anyone know of any software compatible with excel to
auto calculate vat in spreadsheets

There should be a selection on the MS Office template
downloads. And other should be available by searching
Google.

And a simple formula can be written for any spreadsheet.

What country do you need a VAT function?

quite sure what i am doing
i have look in ms templates
dont know how to write a new one
live in uk 17.5%
