Auto-block Adobe Flash Invitations?

C

CWLee

I don't have Adobe Flash Reader installed, and I don't want
to install it. Lately, on more and more websites I visit
I'm being invited to download this free Adobe Flash Reader
software, sometimes 4 or more times. Each of those
invitations takes over a minute to appear, and during that
time nothing else is available at that URL.

Is there a way to automatically block these Adobe Flash
Reader invitations?

I'm using Windows 2000/Pro, and OE/IE.

Many thanks.

Hi CW,

You could try Hostsman, a hosts file utility, which will block a web address
from being loaded and displayed, but you will have to know the address of
the 'invitation'. http://hostsman.abelhadigital.com/

If this invitation is in the form of a popup, you can either disable popups
(if you have a popup blocker) or disable scripting before you visit the site
or place the site in your restricted security zone (which will have
scripting disabled, so the popup will not be run)

Regards.
