Audiodg.exe process slowly consuming all available memory

Slowly over time, when any type of audio is played (from sound effect to
music), audiodg.exe continues to grow in memory used. This eventually
reaches a point where I begin receiving error pop up's from windows, stating
the need to close programs due to low available memory. If I close side
programs (sidebar for example) the pop up return later after audiodg has
taken over those freed memory resources as well.

If I close audiodg.exe via the task manager, I generally free up at least
2gb of memory and the warnings never return. The memory usage never climbs
again, but the only way I can get any sound, is to reboot.

I have 4gb of ram, and I even recently purchased a 4gb mem stick for use
solely for ReadyBoost, but the problem continues to return. I have updated
all drivers and made sure that my copy of vista 64 ultimate is also up to
date.

Is there some way to close and restart audiodg.exe process (run command does
not work, or I am doing it incorrectly) without rebooting, so that I can
continue to use my pc with sound without either rebooting every once and a
while, or to not have any sound?

Sounds like a problem in the audio drivers. Possibly a
corrupted driver. Try locating a newer driver. Do an
uninstall of the old one from devman.(Device Manager). Do a
clean Install of newer drivers. If you get a question on
deleting old drivers, answer yes. Restart system between
remove and reinstall.
Windows uses echo canceling, so this can conflict with
surround sound enabled cards.

I tried this when I updated my drivers (old habit from early windows days, to
remove old drivers before installing new ones).

I have also tried disabling "creative enhanced effects". This only slows
the rate at which audiodg consumes memory, but it still does and still has
the same end result, it just takes longer to occur.
