Audio stutters on audio playback

I recently had to reinstall Windows2000 on my PC (AthlonXP 2500+, 1 Gb RAM,
Creative SBLive!, nVidia Ti4200) and now my audio playbacks of .ogg and
..mp3's stutter when typing, as though the keyboard input is interrupting with
decoding. This is apparent on JetAudio (my default player), WinAmp and
Windows Media Player. Where possible I have set priorities to highest etc.
with no effect.

Audio playback used ot multitask flawlessly on my system. I've no more stuff
installed than previously before the reinstall. I've tried changing Audio
Settings to best performance, worst performance, etc.

Any help much appreciated. I listen to lots of music whle working and with
the stutters it's totally throwing my creativity!

Presumably you checked for driver updates, at hw manu site, NOT winupdate

I know how to fix this in Winamp. Go to the options where you can
change the output plugin. Change it from DirectSound to WaveOut.
That should take care of the stuttering.
