Hi Guys, Im having a vista prob. After finding a vista driver for my audio
chip, I installed and it works fine, but after turning the machine off then
back on the driver has dropped and reverted back to the windows driver that
didnt work! I then have to set the driver back up so it works again, then the
same thing happens after power down! Its like NT when you didnt save the
profile. Any ideas???

Hi,
Have you gone to your speaker icon in your tray, right clicked it to open
the recording and playback features? If more than one device is listed
there, you should be able to choose one of them as the default. Good luck,
Jerry

No, the point is, the device manager is saying there is a driver loaded and
working the task bar speaker says no audio device, if you go to playback
there is no device listed!! Until you reload the driver again then it works
but on power down and back it forgets the driver and reverts back to before
the install of the driver.

Hi Ady,

Okay, I had sort of the same problem. Here is what a Dell technician did
for me, using Dell Connect. Dell Connect is a service where you give control
of your computer to that technician so he or she can search for the problem,
across the Internet and from their own computer.

He went to my Device Manager and deleted that driver all together. Then
he downloaded the latest driver for that device, that happened to be listed
on Dell's site. (You can probably go to your manufacturer's website for the
very latest driver.) After installing the driver he went back to my Device
Manager. At the very top of the list he right clicked on what you would call
the Service Tag (or your own computer's "name") and chose "scan for hardware
changes". Then he went through that process.

I don't know much about this but I think that because you already have
the hardware installed in your computer, it may not be exactly like adding
new hardware. After going through that process my recorder is now listed and
stays listed.

Another thing you might want to do after this process is to reboot your
system, just to make sure everything is installed. But I think the
reinstallation may help.

Good luck,

Jerry

Well Im still here with the same prob... To recap...

The driver that comes with vista is installed ok. But .. the speaker on the
task bar says... NO AUDIO OUTPUT DEVICE INSTALLED... If I update the driver
to the Realtek R1.65 HD Driver it all works ok, BUT when I restart the
machine it comes back to the Microsoft Driver and the message ..NO AUDIO
OUTPUT DEVICE INSTALLED, so it totally drops the working driver in favour of
the non working Vista one!!! And No ... It doesnt give me the option to roll
back to prev. driver in Device manager.

HELP ME BEFORE I JUST GIVE UP ON THIS VISTA!!!!

Hi Ady,

If both drivers are listed in your Device Manager, the only thing I can
suggest is to go there and disable the one you don't want to use. Maybe that
would force the good one to stay on board?? If that doesn't work, I would go
to your manufacturer's website and talk, on line to a technician---use their
"Chat" session. I have a Dell and can even turn my computer over to the on
line tech who can search my machine "remotely" for problems---It's called
Dell Connect. Sorry I can't help you any further, my knowledge is very
limited. If you find a fix, kindly post it here. Good luck,
Jerry
