audio problem

Whenever I attempt to play a cd, I get the sound , but it sounds like a 45 record. From Metallica to Aerosmith, they all sound like the chipmunks. Anybody got any idea on how to fix this?
 
You can slow down the accelaration in sound playback
Start/Control Panel/Sounds and..../Audio tab/Avanced button
Performance tab/Accelaration/one click to the left/Apply/OK
 
Try this...

Do a file search of your system for "iviaudio.ax", without quotes.

If found, temporarily rename to something like "iviaudio.ax.old", and try
playing your cd again.

Iviaudio.ax is part of Intervideo's WinDVD player installation and there is
an updated version currently available from Intervideo.
