Hello Richard,
Is this with all video files or just one of a particular format? If it
is just one particular file format which one are you haveing this trouble
with?
Thanks,
Chris.

Hello Richard,
Please disregard my last reply. It turns out that this is a known issue
with a particular codec. Here is the fix.

Do you have WinDVD installed (or another Intervideo product)?

WinDVD installs a codec named "iviaudio.ax" that has numerous problems in
MM.
This codec interferes with the playback of clips in the timeline/storyboard,
resulting in "chipmunk" like audio.

Workaround:
1. Search for copies of "iviaudio.ax" on your PC, and rename them to
"iviaudio.ax_"
or
2. Unregister iviaudio.ax

Best regards,
Chris.

I talked to intervideo a moment ago. If you download
trial version dvd 4 it resolves the conflict. Apparently,
the conflicts results for preloaded software from
companies like Dell. If you phone intervideo up you might
be able to get them to give the upgrade for free.

Hi There,

Great Minds and all that...I tried the same route some time
back...unfortunately the codecs are time limited as well as the program
itself. I think the upgrade to the codecs was something like US$15.99. I
ended up by WinDVD5 Platinum in the end and very pleased with it as well.

I have written a program that removes the problem while you use
MovieMaker its called Rename Codecs and its available from my website...in
fact I have only today made available the latest version (1.3) It also has a
little option that helps get rid of redundant files...that feature is not
related to the codec issue though. For the codec problem, you rename the
offending codec while you use Movie Maker and then restore the names
afterwards. The number of downloads of this utility have increased sharply
this last week....which is why I did a bit of an improvement job on the
program

Best Wishes.....John Kelly
