Audio out of sync with video! PLS HELP!

Hi people,
I just got a new laptop and the movie maker on it somehow manages to
screw up the audio to the video when I don't start it from the front.
So someone suggested using this google groups. I looked through a lot
of these but none had what I was looking for. All my Videos I get from
a website where I can download them. So I don't think thats the
problem. If u could help that could be great!

videos from websites can be all sorts of file types, from flash to wmv, divx
etc. Most of these don't work well in MM, so check what sort it is, then
convert to wmv and try again.
At the same time, don't use mp3 audio, convert to wav.
