Audio email program--another question

Anyone know of a free program that will embed an audio file into the body of
an email so that the audio will play as soon as the email is opened without
any effort by the recipient (such as having to manually click to open the
attached audio file)?

Aren't properly-secured e-mail programs supposed to block that sort of
behaviour?

None, since most e-mail clients will not open any attachments
automatically.

Do you mean other than Outlook Express in HTML?

I am wanting to do my own personalized birthday greeting cards to send to my
family and friends, so what you are suggesting is not an issue here.

I guess you are saying there is already a way to do this by using HTML. I am not computer savvy, so I don't know how to do that, but I'll do some more Googling around and try to figure out how it is done.

thanks

Sorry if I wasn't clear enough: I'm not suggesting anything at all.
In fact, I assumed that what you wanted to do was precisely as you've
described -- sending a friendly greeting to family/friends that would
run an audio clip when they opened the message.

But if their systems are properly set up to block automatic behaviour -
- which, for security reasonns, they should be -- you'll have trouble
getting embedded stuff to play without intervention on their behalf, no
matter how innocent it is.

Perhaps there's a way to set up their machines so as to allow automatic
behaviour from known addresses, but someone more technical than I am
would have to explain how to do that.

No problem. Thanks

To include a sound in an OE message:

1.. Click anywhere in the message window.
2.. On the Format menu, point to Background, and then click Sound.
3.. Enter the name of the file you want to include and the number of times
you want the file to play.
Works best with short .wav files.

Thank you very much. That is exactly what I was looking for!!
