Audio drags when added to timeline

I have a video clip that was imported us WMM. It plays fine when previewed
from the Collection area. But when I try to add it to the timeline, the audio
changes to half the speed resulting in mismatched audio/video and a lower
pitch to the voices on the clip. How can I fix this?

that's a symptom of a source file that was made with a codec that Movie
Maker doesn't effectively use.... see the Import Movie Source Files > Video
section of my website.
