You (and JimCougar) are just missing the codec required to display the
video. Download and
install the ffdshow codec from here: http://sourceforge.net/projects/ffdshow/ Which ever media player you
decide to use will automatically locate and use this codec the next time
you try to play that video file.
Funny thing is: with me it is the other way round. I record films and they
run fine. After I have encoded them there is video but no audio... sometimes
the audio starts then stops. Any helpful websites or programs for this
problem?
.... thanks for the answer but unfortunately this does not solve my problem. I
had all the codecs. I am now working with Sorenson Squeeze which works
excellent and also with Ashampoo - also no problem with the audio output.
the problem that i have is this, the video is seen and the sound, but in the
middle of playing it stops, plays then stops. now what must happen for this to
stop. I've downloaded so much stuff that it's just crazy. please advise!

Are you saying this occurs whern viewing online video?
If you have a slow internet connection that could be the problem...
Also high traffic on the movie site can cause issues.
And...if you have onboard graphics instead of a separate
graphics card that could slow things down.
