Audio But Missing Video, All Players/Formats

this is weird! When I play any type of video, with any player, on my Win 2k
PC, there's audio, but no video. I can see the position-slider scrolling to
the right as the video plays.. Sometimes, if I run the player as
administrator, then I get the visual, and sometimes not.

This is affecting all players, all formats: mpeg, avi, ram, QuickTime,
mediaplayer, and winamp.

help!

hi i guess it's a codec problem. try downloading the
latest media player and directX from
windowsupdate.microsoft.com

I have precisely the opposite problem. I get perfect video
from everything, including my TV tuner card...but
absolutely no audio on this computer.

It happened not long after I installed WinME as a dual boot
option, on my 2000 machine. Since I rarely used the
multimedia extensions, I've just left it broken.

Any ideas what might be wrong? I've tried downloading
updates, new codecs, etc...nothing I've tried has restored
audio to my machine, under Win2KPro.
