I am trying to create a refrence list & Word is automatically inserting dates. I have already undone the auto text feautures. I have also undone the atuo text listing. Any hints?

From the Tools menu, select AutoCorrect Options and go to the AutoText tab
and uncheck the "Show AutoComplete suggestions" box.

Kay Girl,

FWIW, this info was easily findable in the HELP file. The hard part is
CLIPPY! If you aren't getting much help from Word because CLIPPY keeps
showing up, click the "Options" button (or right-click him) and uncheck the
checkboxes to use him. Then when you press F1 you will get the regular HELP
screen. At that point ALWAYS try using the "Index" TAB first (my
preference). Type the word "date" in the box and click "Search". An option
at the top is called "Automatically insert the current date". Double-click
it and read the HELP to the right. It leads you to the same place as Doug
just sent you.

Have fun murdering CLIPPY!
