Post yours here :)

You can get the software from Here

The software measures how fast your hard disk(s) read and write.

My benchmark was taken on the system in my sig which has as it's main disk a pair of WD 74Gb Raptors in a RAID 0. They have had Win Vista on them continuously for 19 months now and I mention that as read/write speeds will be faster if taken shortly after a fresh install.

My figures don't mean much to me atm as I have nothing to compare them to, so get posting yours up here.

The software doesn't install but works as a live app.

I don't know if it works within Linux unfortunately.

Here's mine for starters then:

These are the results for a partition on an external E-Sata drive running at 150Mbs (Sata 1 speed). The drive is a Seagate Baracuda SATA 2 320GB.

Shame it don't run on Linux. Would have been good to see the results of a shoot out.

Recently changed my systems' primary disk from a pair of 10,000rpm raptors to a pair of 7200rpm sataII Hitachi disks and here as promised is the comparison.

Note that the Raptor benchmark was taken with a very full Operating System loaded whereas the SataII benchmark was taken with a fresh install with relatively little software installed:

The 2 x 74Gb Raptors with a very full version of Vista SP1:

The 2 x Hitachi 250Gb Sata II disks with fresh install of Vista with SP2:

I think this shows that the Raptors, or improved Velicoraptors are worth all that cash.

Having said that, thus far with this install I'm noticing little difference in speed of operation.

But that could be due to the uncluttered install and the addition of Vista Service Pack 2.

I'll do another Atto benchmark a couple of weeks down the line.
