Attention Dave Peterson - Re-Registering Excel

Hi Dave

The original thread is long gone, but I have finally gotten my problem
totally fixed.
You had done some experimenting with excel /regserver and I tried all the
thing you tried.
but still had some problems.

To refresh your memory, this is the last message I sent back to you in the
thread.

Hi Dave

After reading your post, I went back and tried everything as you described,
and I must still have a problem somewhere since I could not get it to work
properly when DDE was checked.(which it was after I ran Regserver) All other
applications except Excel work properly, but when DDE is checked in excel, I
get an error message that Windows could not find the file that was double
clicked, but it does find it and it opens properly. The only way I can
prevent the error message from showing up is to uncheck DDE and add the "%1"
after the "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\EXCEL.EXE" /e like this
"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\EXCEL.EXE" /e "%1". This solves
all the problems, so until I can find what is really happening it will do
for now.

Thanks

Ken

What fixed my problem was to run

excel.exe /unregserver

and then to run

Excel.exe /regserver

I can't really explain why, but thought I would pass this info back to you
for future reference.

Regards

Ken

I saw your post yesterday and wondered if you gave up on changing the DDE stuff
manually.

It looks like it might be a good idea to unregister excel first, then reregister
it.

(although from the successful response rate, it sounds like that is not always
necessary. (but I know someone who wasn't so successful! No idea why it didn't
work for you.))

Thanks for posting.
