Attempting update on MS site

Reinstalled update XP PRO. Just registered and attempted
update. Message "Windows update encountered problem and
cannot display the requested page." the fix was to
regedit the H Key Local Machine\system\Current control
Set\Control\Windows and reset the "CSD Version" to zero.
But, no CSD Version shows. Any ideas?
