Attempting to burn DVD from .VCR file type

Ed Korsberg

First off I am a newbe on the AIW products.
I just built a new PC (2.4 Ghz P4, 1 Gb ram, Intel d865perl mb, 40 Gb 7200
RPM drive) and added the AIW 9000 pro.
Overall it works great however I have not yet figured out how to record data
at DVD quality
and use the bundled Ulead VideoStudio package to burn a DVD.

I am able to record a movie clip using the "Video CD" encoding
(which outputs a file with a .MPG extension) to a CD-R. This works great.

However when I choose to record movie clips at a higher resolution,
the ATI software stores the resultant data in a file type of .VCR.
To be more precise, when I use the Genstar Guide Plus software
and right click on a program listing and choose record, it only shows
4 options,
DVD (output is .VCR)
Good (output is .VCR)
Longer (output is .VCR)
Video CD (output is .MPG)

The Ulead VideoStudio (and MovieFactory) software do not
recognize this .VCR file format. The ATI multimedia center of course knows
about
this file format and replays the video clip successfully.

What am I missing on how to transfer this .VCR to a DVD (or even to a set of
CD-R's) ?

On all the MMC controls, the box with the tick is SETUP.

Under Personal Video Recorder you will find a "Map Presets" option. Here you
can choose between .VCR and .MPG formats.
(But I _never_ managed to capture with Ulead Studio).
