attempted critical update

Critical Update 811493 of 3.2 MB refuses to install even
though the dialogue box shows a download. The install
row shows only two blue bars and then the dialogue box
closes and a new box says that 811493 is successfully
installed. Then clicking on scan for updates shows 811493
needs to be installed. I have tried this 8 times without
success. What to do?
