Hi, My email command is unavailable in word without outlook. i attempt to
attach a document in my email and i get the whole file..i can not activate my
text formate in word...I uninstalled window mail, too many problems..and
restored system...back to the same problem..Can not send a document as an
attachment in a email message, Copy and paste...what a drag....

This is probably caused by your antivirus program.Windows Mail and most other email clients is incompatible with Anti Virus that is set to scan incoming and outgoing emails . Are you using Norton or MacAfee by any chance.

Use something like Avast free and install it without the email integration. You will still be protected. The scanning feature is only a layer on top of the actual scan which will work and catch anything without the email scanning feature being set.

Some AV programs even if you disable the automatic scanning feature will not correct the issue. You will need to uninstall the Anti Virus and re-install without the scanning feature for it to work.

I do not find this. I have one computer with Avast and one with NOD32. Both
are set to scan emails, both work like a charm and neither has any (or had
any) affect on the operation of either Windows Mail or Outlook Express. Not
have they affected Thunderbird on the occasions that I have run it.

It is an email scanning problem confined to Norton and McAfee.
That is why Peter Folkes mentioned those 2 anti-viruses.

Avast works great!

I have avoided both for as long as I can remember, for the reasons that are
being posted again and again in the newsgroup.

The wording that Peter used implied to me that all anti-virus programs were
equally culpable, which is the reason for my post - just shows how different
everyone's perceptions are :)

Your are right of course. Norton and McAfee are very slow and awkward in
their scanning operation and most people give up on them. Attachments are
easy carriers of various virus and other attack forms and it is best in my
view to insert text files.

My opinion and answer still stands for your issue. Like I said in my post ALL Anti Virus integration(email scanning) can cause this issue no matter if it works fine as you claim. Avast,AVG,Nod32,Norton,Karpensky,MacAfee all have issues with email scanning on all email clients.

Disable the email scanning feature of you Anti Virus. If it still continues after you will need to uninstall your Anti Virus software and re-install it without the email integration. Period.
