attachments stripped at odd times

I have a user who used to be able to send Excel attachments to an outside
email address with no problems. Lately however the emails are being received
without the attachments on them.

If she sends the same attachments interoffice via exchange they go through
just fine.

If she sends them to a different user outside the office they arrive just
fine.

If a second user from our exchange server sends the outside email the end
user recieves it just fine.

It seems that the only problems arise from attachments being sent from our
user to the other user. I don't think it's a problem with anything on our end
and I've checked everything I can think of. Is there anything I can check on
my end to make sure we aren't where the problem lies?

If the user with the sending problem has the recipient in his or her
Contacts folder, open the contact record and double-click the E-mail
address. There should be a drop-down labeled "Internet Format". If that
drop-down says "Send using Outlook Rich Text Format", change it to one of
the other choices.
