attachments removed by oe

I can't open attachments sent to my address. I can open
the email. However, when I try to open attachment it
indicates that "oe removed access to the following unsafe
attachments in your email...". This may have happened
after I downloaded some security downloads from MS
download site. I use Windows 98 and Outlook 6. Any
suggestions to solve this problem will be appreciated.

I am experiencing the same problem and as with you it
started after I downloaded the security updates from MS.

It seems to be focusing on pdf files, but I am not sure
whether it is getting rid of any other files yet.

Like you I am looking for a way to either turn off the
feature or at least have the ability to determine if I
want the attachment removed.

Help!

After playing around a bit I found out how to turn off
the feature that is removing the attachment.

Go to tab "Tools" and go to the section marked "Options"

Under "Options" is another tab called "Security"

Under Security is a section called "Virus Protection".

There is a box called "Do not allow attachments that
could be saved or openned......"

It will have been checked off. If you uncheck that box
it will allow you to open the attachments that previously
you could not.

Again my experience is that it ony does this with pdf
files as Word and Excel seemed fine. Do not know if I
want to leave that box unchecked when documents come in.
But you can always turn off the feature to recover a file
that it previously would not allow you to open.
